Tim: Can’t we just share?
Boss Baby: You obviously didn’t go to business school.

The Boss Baby

My latest addiction is ‘The Boss Baby’. It came out as a movie first in 2017 and continued as a Netflix Original series for two seasons.

The story revolves around a suit-wearing, briefcase-carrying workaholic baby (‘The Boss Baby’) pairing up with his 7-year old brother Tim to further the cause of ‘Baby Corp’ — a baby manufacturing company up in the sky. They are in charge of keeping babies lovable so that more parents want them, and their business grows. The Boss Baby and Tim together fight the cats, the dogs, and the elderly people to increase love for babies and not share it with anyone else.

Though I know the story is childish (which it is supposed to be, since it’s a children’s movie/web series), I still enjoy the fun things these brothers do along with the other babies. The whole idea of babies working at a corporation to increase baby love in the world is so cute and adorable. Not to mention that ‘The Boss Baby’ is a strict boss and only talks business. His jargon includes charts, graphs, numbers, business market and so on. Therefore, you see a small baby clad in a black business suit, sipping on a milk bottle and talking business. Some of the conversations go like this —

Tim: [regarding Baby Corp] So this whole place is run by babies?
Boss Baby: Yep.
Tim: My dad says “Those who can, do. And those who can’t, supervise.”
Boss Baby: Your father is a hippie.

Tim: Aren’t you going to do any work?
Boss Baby: I am very busy delegating.

We also see him making notes (which are all gibberish since he is a baby) in his journal with a crayon. He has a core team (who are also babies) — one of them is clever, hardcore and believes in manipulation and fighting as her way through. While the other is a muscle baby who is very soft at heart. The last are identical triplets who are mostly in sync and know a hack to every situation.

It is very enjoyable to see babies standing up to their cause (which is just to increase baby love). They also do real fighting which involves weapons like milk bottle with hot milk and strategies like snatching away favorite toys for revenge. However, the whole back tone of business is what keeps it fresh and furthermore adorable.

I really wish this movie was not fiction. Now that I have watched the movie a couple of times and finished binge-watching the two seasons, I am eager for Netflix to release the next season soon. Until next time !
